The Bund

Situated along the West Bank of the Huangu River, The Bund is arguably one of the most popular attractions in Shanghai. Not only does it offer amazing views of Pudong (The district with many skyscrapers and the Shanghai Stock Exchange) but is heaven for architects!
Shanghai became an important trading port in the 1840s and as a result many Western style buildings were constructed in the immediate vicinity of the Bund. As a result it is great to see the different styles next to each other and across the river.
It is defintely worth visiting at night time when Pudong is lit up.
You can also take a short 5 minute train ride through a tunnel that goes from The Bund to where the Oriental Pearl Tower is located across the river.
It costs 45CNY for a single journey or 55CNY for a return ticket. The entrance on The Bund side is near East Nanjing Road, while the Pudong entrance is located on the South entrance of the Pearl Tower. Both entrances are clearly sign posted so very easy to find!
How to get there:
Underground:
-
Take Underground Line 2 or Line 10 to East Nanjing Road and walk towards the river.
